West Bay Central
Katherine Ebanks-Wilks is a dedicated Member of Parliament for West Bay Central, committed to ensuring that her constituents have access to necessary resources and services while advocating for their needs across government platforms.
Elected in 2021, Katherine was first appointed Deputy Speaker of the House and Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Financial Services and Commerce, and to the Ministry of Education, giving her rounded experience across departments and in the parliamentary process. In 2022, she became the country’s youngest Speaker of the House, holding the position for a year before being appointed Minister of Sustainability & Climate Resiliency.
Katherine’s professional journey began in the legal field, with roles as a paralegal at prominent firms like Turner and Roulstone and Maples. She later worked at the Cayman Islands Law Reform Commission, where she helped to research and draft legislative reforms aimed at modernising the country’s legal framework. In her position as an Articled Clerk with Hampson and Company, she gained hands-on experience in litigation and client relations.
Katherine’s decision to run for office was driven by her desire to make a meaningful difference in her community. She initially ran as an independent candidate in 2017, and was encouraged by constituents to try again in 2021.
As a founding member of The Caymanian Community Party, Katherine has a deep conviction that the people of the Cayman Islands deserve leadership that puts their needs first. She believes in providing a more organised, efficient, and people-centered government, focused on ensuring that Caymanians have opportunities to thrive in their own country.
With her proven leadership, dedication to service, and community-driven approach, Katherine is well-equipped to continue representing the people of West Bay Central. Her ability to engage with residents and address their concerns head-on ensures that she remains a strong voice for the district. Katherine is committed to working with the TCCP to bring about positive change for the Cayman Islands.
