A long-time advocate for sustainability and social justice, Em brings a community-driven approach to represent the residents of George Town East 

Em DeCou is a sustainability consultant and community leader committed to building a just, resilient, and thriving Cayman Islands. With a strong background in promoting environmental stewardship and social justice at the grassroots level, Em is ​dedicated ​​to driving impactful change in George Town East.  

Em is the founder of TRUE.M, a sustainability consultancy firm, and is qualified as a TRUE advisor, specialising in resource efficiency and sustainability solutions. Em has over a decade experience in the legal sector and financial services, and has travelled throughout the region to gain tools for advancing local social justice causes. 

Community service has been at the heart of Em’s journey. From a young age, they volunteered with local charities, later expanding into leadership roles with ​several local NPOs. ​​     ​​ ​ 

Through these roles, Em has focused on policy advocacy and achieving SDGs through regional solidarity, coastal resilience projects, youth empowerment, and advancements for underserved communities. 

Em envisions a Cayman that balances economic growth with conservation, honours its cultural identity and heritage, and ensures equitable opportunities for all, taking a firm stance against corruption and policies that neglect marginalised and future generations. 

Em is dedicated to tackling rising costs of living, promoting environmental resilience, delivering inclusive education, and safeguarding the vulnerable. By running for office with The Caymanian Community Party, Em seeks to bring a fresh, informed, and principled approach to governance, ensuring Cayman remains a vibrant, fair, and culturally rich home for generations to come. 

For George Town East, Em’s priorities are establishing a constituency committee to ​create ​​a stormwater management plan​ for the South Sound basin​, increasing public transport routes to address traffic issues, and constructing affordable houses​.
